February 2002 Haul Out - Part 1

( goto haul-out part 2 )

I had the HollyB hauled out on 2/25/2002 at Al Larson Ship Yard on Terminal Island-San Pedro.

The HollyB had been leaking a lot of water in the front and rear areas of the boat., about 2'-3' in one night.

So, time to have the leaks fixed., the bottom painted.

Also having the propeller replaced, zincs, and the head on the engine, a 671 Detroit Diesel.

The work crew at the Al Larson Ship Yard do amazing work, definitely one of the Top notch yards on the West Coast.

Here's some shots of her coming out at the yard...

Floating up to the dry dock

A Catalina Express on the left having both engines and transmissions replaced...

At the stern..the dry dock is starting to float the boat...

A side look at the dry dock mechanisms...notice the blocks in the rear..they slide these into the boat to it's side to hold it upright..they are controlled by the hand cranks on top of each steel stanchion.....

She's high and dry...took about 10 minutes...

Rear Shot....

Propeller and lots of growth....

Close up of the bottom..some growth but pretty good shape planks...

Hey...Looks like fir growing on this thing....

This side is cleaner....
